If you enjoy 4X space games such as Stardock’s Sins of the Solar Empire, you may be interested in checking out Vulcando Games’ Celetania which entered closed beta this week. It’s not a MMOG but it is a persistent online 4X game, for a nice change of pace. Linux is also listed as a Celetania platform! I haven’t read the forums to see if they have a native client or are simply guaranteeing compatibility with WINE or Cedega.
Vulcando is starting small; only 200 beta keys were issued this week for Celetania. After feedback from those testers, another 200 keys will be issued next week or the week after, and will likely continue in spurts of 200 keys at a time.
Sounds like this will be a fairly short beta cycle, however — the release date for Celetania was recently set to February 13, 2009!

One of my favorite 4X games was Stars! by Empire Interactive back in the late 90′s. The best part was the minimal interface and the fact that you could play via e-mail.
I’ve still not picked up Sins yet, but it’s on my to do list for this year, maybe. lol
Weird name, but I do like the look of it. I’ll have to give it a try… I never know which of these F2P games is going to click for me.
