@SmakenDahed: Well, I was specifically asking about only the actual controls. DA:O has very "passive" RPG controls. It can feel frantic at times but that's mainly because you're pausing and switching characters. But once you give them an order you pretty much just sit back and watch them execute it.

The dialogue handling, etc. is a whole other ball of wax I didn't even want to get into.

My general feeling was that if you're only controlling a single character, players would want a more interactive control scheme.

No. I'm with J.

MP would fail for more than just the controls. The game's experience is directed towards a single player.

I think they'd need to create a whole other 'game' for multiplayer because it'd be way too tough to tack on co-operative. How would the starting areas/origins work? Who would control the NPCs? Who would lead the conversations? Who would the NPCs react to in cases where there is a 'history' between them?

I only voted no because I don't think multiplayer would work with the default controls and ui. But, I do think it would work if you only controlled one character, but then there would be no reason to pause the game.
